The Petite Peony in Ivory is the smallest bloom in the peony range, but what it lacks in scale it makes up in character — a single open blossom in warm ivory, the petals edged in golden-tawny and a little tuft of stamens just visible at the center. It has the quality of something found rather than arranged, a small surprise at the corner of a shelf or at a guest’s place. Here in Old Chatham, ivory peonies are cut first from the garden — they keep best and arrange most easily.
