Urn Candle

Candles by Greentree Candles

The Urn Candle takes the classical vessel form — the urn that has held flowers, ash, and memory across every civilization — and renders it in black beeswax: hand-poured in the Hudson Valley, clean-burning, unhurried in its 35-hour burn. An object that earns its place on the table and the shelf in equal measure.

The urn is among the oldest forms in the decorative canon, the vessel shape that holds and contains and signifies all at once. In black beeswax — matte, dense, hand-poured in small batches in New York's Hudson River Valley — it becomes the candle that looks like a considered object before the wick is ever lit. Thirty-five hours' burn time means the Urn Candle is not a gesture but a presence: the piece that stays on the mantelpiece through the season, the one that guests ask about. Pure beeswax. Clean burn. Properly made.

Trim the Wick:

Always trim wicks to 1/4 inch before lighting.

Candle Safety:

Follow the 2-foot rule— don't place a burning candle near clothing, books, curtains or anything flammable. Place candle holders on a stable, heat-resistant surface that is sturdy and large enough to catch any melted wax. Keep lit candles away from drafts, ceiling fans and any air currents. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Extinguish all candles when you leave a room or before going to sleep or if the flame gets too close to the candle holder or container. A candle should not be burned for more than four hours at a time. For a margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle when 1/4 inch of wax remains in the container.
