At Home with Designers and Tastemakers

There is a certain kind of book one returns to not for instruction but for company — to sit with a room made by someone who has spent years understanding what they love. At Home with Designers and Tastemakers is that book. Fifteen chapters, fifteen homes, each a portrait of a different way of thinking about beauty and domestic life.

When our home, B’ellow, was featured in ELLE Decor in October 2020, Susanna Salk and Stacey Bewkes reached out to bring us into their Quintessence At Home With series on YouTube. During the filming of that tour, Stacey shot the stills that would become this book. We had been fans of Quintessence for years — their ability to find what is genuine in a home, to resist the staging and show a room as it is actually used, is rare. We are proud to be among the fifteen homes documented here.

Design author Susanna Salk has written many books, including the successful Be Your Own Decorator and Dogs and Their Designers. She also hosts (and coproduces) the “Quintessence At Home With” video series on YouTube featuring visits with leading tastemakers.

Photographer Stacey Bewkes is the founder of “Quintessence,” a lifestyle blog and the co-producer of the “At Home With” series.
