There is something right about a coaster that is also a small work of art — that performs its protective function without pretending that function is the point. Marian McEvoy's coasters do this: 12 pulp board rounds in vivid red, printed with her characteristic shapes and drawings, they work on the game night table and the cocktail hour table and the Sunday morning coffee table with equal conviction. No wrong side. No fussiness. The set builds a following, which is what Marian McEvoy's work tends to do.

• Our beverage coasters are reusable. Pulp board drink coasters can take the abuse. If they become soaked, just lay them on a flat surface to air-dry. Once dry, your coasters will be able to absorb moisture again.
