Pure beeswax, black. The Pillar Candle begins there — in the material and the color — and does not require further justification. Hand-poured in New York State, each of the three heights carries the clean, slightly matte finish that makes black beeswax look both serious and beautiful. They burn long and without drama. Set a short one in a low dish, a tall one in a hurricane, all three together in a row on the mantelpiece in the way that has always looked right. The kind of candle that makes a room feel like the person who decorated it knew what they were doing.

Trim the Wick:

• Always trim wicks to 1/4 inch before lighting.

• Follow the 2-foot rule— don't place a burning candle near clothing, books, curtains or anything flammable. Place candle holders on a stable, heat-resistant surface that is sturdy and large enough to catch any melted wax. Keep lit candles away from drafts, ceiling fans and any air currents. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Extinguish all candles when you leave a room or before going to sleep or if the flame gets too close to the candle holder or container. A candle should not be burned for more than four hours at a time. For a margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle when 1/4 inch of wax remains in the container.

In summary:

• Burn Candles on a fireproof surface. 
• Before lighting and relighting candle trim wick to 1/4” to achieve maximum burn time and the least amount of dripping. 
• We suggest burning for 2-3 hours at a time. 
• Allow the candle to cool before relighting. 
• Burn candles within sight. 
• Keep candles away from things that can catch fire (curtain, tablecloth)
• Keep away from pets and children
• Keep away from a draft, open window or fan.
